The Internet can be a scary place.

How are you protecting your kids online?

This is the first generation to ‘come of age’ online. Chances are, your kids know more about the Internet than you do. As parents, we have the responsibility to educate ourselves about the dangers our children face online and provide solutions to keep them safe.

Join us for this free community event to learn about what our kids are really doing online, and what you can do to protect them.

We'll be talking about social networking, cyber-bullying, online predators, plagiarism and cheating, inappropriate websites and the growing problems with mobile devices.

Hosted by Make It Work co-founder and CEO, Eric David Greenspan and Jeremy Anticouni, co-founder, CTO, and host of CBS Tech News, the presentation will be a mix of technology facts and real-life experiences.

Leave the kids with the babysitter and come see what First District Supervisor Salud Carbajal is calling "an essential resource for parents".

Register now. SPACE IS LIMITED.

DR. BRIAN SARVIS, SANTA BARBARA SCHOOL DISTRICTS SUPERINTENDENT:
"The dangers lurking on the Internet for our students are very real. Children have been lured, for example, into sexually predatory relationships and many do not understand the risks of posting pictures and information about themselves online. Please attend and find out what all parents should know to keep our children safe."

SALUD CARBAJAL, FIRST DISTRICT SUPERVISOR:

“While the Internet provides a vast new horizon of possibilities, there are many perils and challenges that we as parents need to fully understand in order to prevent our children from falling victim to. This seminar will be an essential resource for parents as they work to balance the benefits associated with this emergent technology with their children’s safety.”

TIM SCHWARTZ, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE SANTA BARBARA EDUCATION FOUNDATION:

"Just as parents teach their kids not to talk to strangers and how to safely cross the street, we must monitor our children's electronic playgrounds and teach them how to use the internet in a safe an appropriate way."

CAM SANCHEZ, CHIEF OF POLICE, CITY OF SANTA BARBARA:
“Internet safety is critical. Preparing our students and their families to be on the look out within their homes and beyond is a safety matter we cannot and should not ignore. We cannot as a community ignore the fact that we are in this together in order to keep our children and all families safe from this quiet yet dangerous attack via the Internet”.
